Mountain building by Paul Piker - method 1
Materials needed wire screening, old newspaper, small pieces of wood for bracing, heavy duty staple gun, Structo-lite a building material compound which like 50% plaster & 50% cement, a large bowl, water base paint coloring white for snow mountains or a medium brown for regular mountains, and water

Build a base for your mountain with scraps of small wood, staple down screen wire (the type used in screen doors which can be purchased by the roll) you staple down the bottom edge and work the screen up to the top of your mountain, work with the screen forming hills and ridges using the base pieces of the small wood adding to it's support and stapling the screen to the wooden pieces, after all of the screening is secured in place you wad up old newspaper and stuff it under the screening to add to the mountains form. Mix up a batch of Structo-lite in a bowl, add water to the mixture until you have a firm consistent texture, also at this time you can add the coloring to the mixture. If the mixture is too soupy it will run through the screening and if it is too thick you will find it very hard to work with and you will have trouble getting it to adhere to the screening. Apply the Structo-lite to the screening by carefully using your hands (be carefull of sharp points on the screening) to mold the material onto the screening to a height of about 1/2" above the screening.
